Sonnet 11
February, commercially cruelest,
Chocolate kisses to replace ones lips,
Love and proposals declared as truest,
yet as transitory as cargo ships.
Red velvet hearts, black velvet ring boxes,
experience shows as valueless things.
The charming prince sets the bait and outfoxes
the trusting maiden by clipping her wings.
Until one day, when she awoke and spoke:
"Valentine, you're not mine, let's end this joke!"
